The Canyon

If you are anything like me you have the belief that your environment shapes your well being. I believe that people are happier who surround themselves with things that exude happiness and calm rather than those who chose to put themselves in stressful surroundings. That’s a no brainer right? If you were looking for a Drug treatment center would you surround yourself with four walls covered in chipping paint or would you chose an alternative method of therapy?

The Canyon offers Drug Rehab services in a truly healing environment. The elite sanctuary offers continuing care for people who suffer co-occurring conditions. The hope is that you will learn to build a lasting foundation for recovery using methods like Equine Therapy, Sweat lodge ceremonies, and Adventure Therapy. I personally have known people who have used Equine Therapy for different “conditions” and have made remarkable changes in their lives. I think the difference in the alternative method of therapy and your more traditional methods is actually filling the void with something else.

I have met people who went through Alcohol rehab and said they used food as a substitute for the alcohol. They would crave something to drink and instead reach for a snack. While it worked for some, others were upset because they gained weight and went right back to drinking. If only they had been given the tools to change their behavior with a more powerful focus. At The Canyon each client is evaluated individually to better meet their needs.

The Canyon employees a Chef that will customize a culinary experience to support your mind, body, and spirt during recovery. Fresh foods are used to avoid antibiotics and pesticides entering your system during treatment. The Canyon believes that this practice also helps reduce the cravings associated with rehab as well as clarify your mind.

Ice Ice Baby

So I decided from now on I’ll just title my blog entries after really cheesy songs from the 80’s and 90’s.  We were supposed to get some ungodly amount of snow yesterday and today. Instead we got tons of ice. There is a thick coating of ice on everything. It’s cold and windy. Still, does that stop us from going out and having Chinese food? I think not! It really wasn’t worth it, as I had hopes of having Starbuck’s and didn’t get that. I’ll live I suppose.
