Banning Fat People From Restaurants

So some dumbass senator ( I think) from some state has decided he wants some fame so he’s going with a totally original ban. You know because banning smoking persons from public places was already taken so he thought he’d pick on fat people now. He’s proposing that people who are overweight not be allowed to eat in restaurants. Humm.

What was the reasoning behind this? Apparently the “reason” is the same as the smoking ban. Smoking is not healthy and ultimately the hope is that smokers will want to be out in society with the rest of us and stop their nasty habits. Although, I don’t think that’s the reason at all.

The reason that people don’t like smokers in public places, especially in restaurants that are close in proximity is that the habit is disgusting to most anyone who doesn’t take part in it. For me, it’s damn disgusting. I also personally think you have a problem if you are going to give that much money to something that’s hindering your daily lifestyle. The last time I checked nobody had a condition or disease that forced them to smoke. Plenty of people are overweight because of medical conditions that they were born with.

Let’s keep going. Second hand smoke is bad for people. It’s especially bad for babies. When I see a mother who is pregnant or has a small child smoking away I want to snap her stupid little head off. Should my child have to sit in a restaurant and reap the benefits of her disgusting choices as well? Nope. Does it hurt my child if someone is fat and eating a piece of cheesecake? Nope.

The bottom line is that being overweight is not a health risk to anyone but yourself. Hey, it might be disgusting to everyone else to watch a 400lb person chow down on a chicken wing. I get disgusted by many things. I dislike whorish women, but I don’t lobby to have them thrown out of places when they are on dates. I keep hearing the word offend by people talking about this subject. If we let things like this go, the next thing you know we’ll be banning Muslims because it might be offensive for someone to sit by them in a restaurant. I mean after all, that person might have had a son or daughter who died in Iraq, so that makes it ok right?

This country is about tolerance and that means tolerance of colors, disabilities, and yes fat people.

A Christmas Miracle

The first year that Sydney was here it was blizzard like conditions outside. We had to stay in the house the entire time basically. I made snickerdoodles. They were, the most perfect thing you’ve ever put in your mouth. The next year I went to get the recipe and it was gone. If miracles can come in the form of recipes then this was a Christmas Miracle.

The recipe is no place to be found. I searched all my cookbooks, and the internet. I’ve tried several recipes and none match up. I just, can’t make snickerdoodles. Kevin got me the Betty Crocker Pink for Breast Cancer cookbook and I made the snickerdoodles out of it today.

They just don’t do it for me. If anyone has a magic cookie recipe out there, please share. We’d all like to have more of those snickerdoodles!

Halloween Hangover

I think I have one. I was so dead tired last night that I came home and did a couple of “assignments” I had lingering, watched Life, and drug myself into my bed. My problem is that I can’t seem to sleep past 5:00am and it’s getting old. After 5:00 I’ll be really uncomfortable and achy with a headache. I’m chalking it up to this stupid weather. At least it’s cold today and doesn’t seem to be warming up. I went from hot to cold to hot last night and it wasn’t fun at all.

Oh, I went to my dads and the cats made my eyes itch. It’s the first time it has ever happened so I think I need to fill the Zyrtec, which would require going to the pharmacy and it resides in the ghetto so I’m not boycotting them. I’ll have to break down and do it today though.

You can imagine with all of that I’m feeling really similar to a hangover, but what fun would Halloween be if you didn’t have a big fat Hangover the next day?

Currently…

My stomach and my head are having a war. My stomach apparently wants to switch places with my head and my head has boycotted the idea. The tactic is my head has dug it’s claws into my brain (?) and when the stomach starts to tug at it, it rips my brains out. My stomach on the other hand is sort of attempting to do flips and possibly come out of any hole it can find in my body. I’m also starting to itch, but I’m not sure what that’s about.

Honestly, I feel like I have the stomach flu. I have felt this way since I ate shrimp on Friday night though. Slowly it’s gotten worse. My choice of food hasn’t helped. I had these pancakes topped with apples and whipped cream this morning and it was all down hill from there. I’d love nothing more than to medicate myself with anything that knocks me out, but I’m afraid I’ll throw up.

I had better be in tip top shape come Wednesday…I’ve got candy to eat!

Who Is Karina Exactly?

I’m probably going to be screamed at somewhere along the lines for mentioned the true name of my sponsor child, but I’m sick of calling her a sponsor child. I really don’t want to make some fake name up for her like Cinderella either, so whatever her name is Karina.

Now, about Karina. I showed her photo to Sydney today. I was telling her that we’re going to send her things. Of course her first question was for her birthday? Well, yes and for Christmas. She was asking what types of things like toys and candy and stuff? Well, yes. Although Karina is quite a bit older than Sydney so she’s not going to want the same toys. Candy, maybe.

I told her she would be able to draw her pictures and color things to send with the packages if she wanted. She was super excited. She also wants Karina to come color with her. I said we’ll see. Maybe someday we can see her in person. She also wants Karina to come sleep over with her as well, because she said I have so much room in my bed. Really? It’s a toddler bed and we’re getting ready to upgrade, but whatever you say girl.

The reality of that is that I have been told you can have a hosting program if you take 5 children from one orphanage that will come to America. I’m just not sure if that will ever happen. She does have two sisters, both older. One is already out of the orphanage. And that one is the one that Sydney proclaimed she liked the most when she looked at their photo!

This Bothers Me Really Bad

So you all probably know of the family watch dog sites that list sex offenders online. You have all probably gotten online and checked your street. Do you know that sex offenders can’t live within 1000 yards of a school or daycare? I believe I have heard playground or park as well. So did you check those too?

I was alarmed when I found out that sex offenders were living at an apartment complex in our town that houses “subsidized” families. You know the ones that check into your employment and all that to make sure you qualify, but apparently think it’s a great idea that you are a registered sex offender and you are living in a complex with tons of kids and the school bus spends about 20 minutes picking them up in the mornings. To me that all equals trouble.

I’m going to see if there is anything I can do about that. I did notice that the people were labeled child molester and not rapist or statutory rapist. That bothered me even more! You know what bothers me the worst about this? Kids will be trick or treating in that area. Forget about waiting on the bus all alone in the morning. They will be going around to the doors of those people who have preyed upon others basically just so they can sit there and pick the ones they are interested in. It’s sick.

Thinking About Christmas

It might be my obsession with shopping, but I am already really ready for Christmas. The decorating and the baking are appealing as well as the shopping and actual gift giving. I have a pretty good idea of what I’m getting all the kids. I can just walk out and fill the cart from about one shelf in the toy isle for Sydney and she’ll be thrilled with it all. Kevin is a different story. He’s hard to buy for. Clothes and golf stuff have got to get old every year.

My dad and mom are along the same lines. My mom always does the whole don’t buy me anything deal. She’s just like that. Then she’ll finally out what she would like and she’ll tell everyone to get her the same thing. Last year she did this and it just wasn’t cool at all. This year I’m buying her obscure things that she doesn’t know she needs yet. Haha. As for me I have no clue what I want this year. All I know is that I’m ready to start shopping, wrapping, and baking.

Shopping For Karina’s Christmas

I got some shopping for Karina’s Christmas done today. She’s my sponsor child from the Ukraine if you are just visiting. I got her some of the necessities like shampoo, soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Then I picked up some other things for her like hair necessities and pens, etc. I felt like I had to get her something that had to do with Christmas. I just couldn’t stand the thoughts of this being a Christmas package and not having anything Christmas related in it.

I went to Hobby Lobby hoping I’d find some stuff. I did! I got her a felt snowflake covered stocking that I’m going to fill with candies. Then I picked her up a moose wearing a Santa hat. Lastly I got her a miniature snowglobe that has a gingerbread man in it. Very cute. Very small. I figured it would not only ship well and be easy to wrap up, but easy for her to keep in her small space.

I contacted my sponsor buddy and asked about wrapping. She doesn’t wrap and I wasn’t going to, but after looking through some of the photos from last Christmas I feel like I have to wrap or at least put those things in gift bags with Christmas things on them. So it looks like I’ll be hitting the store again Monday morning.

I saw some of the things the children got in their packages last year. I’d like to send a blanket, but I wanted to make it out of fleece. Not sure if I can pull that off this week. Also, a clothing item and pjs. I ended up getting her a nice fleece set with bears on it. Plus some socks, etc.

I took photos of it all and like usual I haven’t had time to put them online.
