Lions & Tigers & Bears…Oh My

Quite a few years ago when I was just out of high school the really popular thing with my group of friends was to take road trips. The really neat thing about a road trip is the spur of the moment, not planning anything, not knowing where you are going to end up aspect of it all. The downside to it is that you usually end up missing out on all the cool things that city has to offer because of the lack of planning involved.

Like one time when we ended up in Illinois. It was a pretty long road trip, but we were determined to make it to Chicago and have some fun. With all of us being under the age of 21 it wasn’t like we could wander into any local hot spot at night and just meet people. We found ourselves checking into the cheapest hotel and looking for things to do in Chicago. The fact that it was midday and most of the things we could think of were closing for the evening.

Unfortunately for us we had to leave the very next day to just get back home in time for school. So, our trip to Chicago ended up consisting of many fast food stops, many gas station breaks, and a really long, hot car ride with great music. I haven’t been back there since, but I still want to visit the Shedd Aquarium. If I had done a little bit of planning with Trusted Tours & Attractions I would have been able to plan that out a little better and spend my one day in Chicago there instead of the local roach motel. I could have also found a much better motel at a similar rate.

Lucky for my family I plan a lot better these days. I was browsing the Trusted Tours site for some family vacation ideas for this summer. Sydney is begging to go to a zoo, any zoo that will take us. Sure, we could visit the local one, but it’s just not as exciting as one of the top zoo’s in the country would be. I’m considering a short trip to the San Diego zoo which would have everything we are hoping to see and more.

While I was on the site I saw that they are giving away an iPod Nano. All you have to do is sign up for the Trusted Travels eNewsletter and you are entered to win. I figured it was a win/win situation. I’ll sign up for the newsletter and get valuable information on traveling, something I love to do, and I might end up winning an iPod Nano to listen to while I’m getting to my destination. Feel free to sign up as well, offer ends March 31st, 2008.

Allergy Season

Almost everyone has one, and this is mine! My eyes and nose are killing me. You know I can take the itchy, watery eyes and dry as a bone nasal cavity. The one thing I can’t seem to take is this obsessive need to feel like I’m going to sneeze. It’s almost as if the process starts and I make that….I’m About To Sneeze…face when it stops. This whole thing just makes me look like a twitching idiot. I also hate the fact that I’ve been really dry and that leaves my throat feeling a tiny bit scratchy for a while after I wake up. Yesterday, I was so bad that I cheated and took a Zyrtec in the mid afternoon after I had my nightly dose the night before. Sometimes that is what it takes to get me straightened out.

Rain Rain Go Away

And just flat stay away. I’m sick of you. I’m sick of the mud and the being wet every time I go to do anything. I’m sick of wading through the lake that is the driveway at the preschool. I’m sick of the thought that tomorrow they will hunt Easter eggs, inside. Just as I suspect we’ll be doing most of our hunting on Sunday, in the house. We rarely ever get to do this outside anymore. I feel like the seaons are off and it’s making my mood off. I’m ready for summer. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer. I love it from a well air conditioned place. I loathe the heat and the sunburn and the damn humidity and the sweat. The sweat is my most favorite thing ever! The only good thing about Summer is that it’s almost Fall, the best season of all. So believe me, when I say I’m ready for summer it means I’m truly sick of the mud puddle that has become Indiana.

Having It All

You know I keep talking about vacations. The truth is I want to travel to tropical destinations and foreign countries, but I also want to have a place I can just get away to right here close to home. It’s possible. Although I can’t purchase an entirely new home to just vacation at I could have the same perks with fractional ownership. My family would basically have a vacation home eight weeks out of every year for a fraction of what the total cost of a new vacation home would be.

I’m So Tired

Being a mom is draining some days. Today isn’t one of those days, but yeah I’m tired anyway. I think the cold is just dragging me down. Lately I’ve been talking about looking at different vacation options. Nothing concrete yet. Although we are thinking of taking a 3-4 day long trip to let Sydney visit family and dragging my mom along. She really wants to go somewhere and she’s not ever able to because of my grandmother. So we figured, perfect opportunity!

I’ve actually been looking at exotic vacations. Although I can’t really say anything about that so I’m not sure why I even brought it up. I can say that Sydney is psyched to ride an elephant. I love elephants.

Take Flight

It’s tax time again and normally I wouldn’t be making any plans to spend that money or anything. However, this year apparently we’re getting a nice boost from the government in the form of around $1500.00 or more. This led the husband and I to shout VACATION really loudly. Yes, we need one. Yes, we want one. Somewhere tropical or foreign and full of things to see and do please.

The husband wouldn’t mind going to a foreign land so I started to check out some flights to New Zealand. Using Dialaflight you can book a pretty decent priced flight. The nice thing is that you can get great rates on hotels from the exact same site. Since I have no clue what is going on in New Zealand I thought I would take advantage of the feature that Dailaflight.com has where you can get ideas on excursions and sight seeing as well. That has proven to be a really, really helpful tool right there!

Amoxycillin

Damn the person who gave me strep throat. I just left the doctor and the pharmacy complete with instructions to do nothing for the next few days and if I don’t feel better within 5 give them a call. Medication 3 times a day.

Luckily Sydney is going to visit relatives tomorrow so I’ll be able to sleep, work on my layout, and attempt to get her room straightened up and catch up with this toy trash from Christmas!

Will Someone Sing Jingle Bells With Me?

At Christmas do you bombard yourself with Christmas Music? If you answered no, then I’m here to tell you that you need to start. Nothing is better than the short period of time when Christmas Music is actually played on the radio, or in stores. That’s what Alisa Apps thinks too. Alisa is a talented singer/song writer who does something a lot of you younger people have probably never had the pleasure of doing or seeing. She caroler!

Yep, you heard me right. Alisa spreads holiday cheer through caroling in unique ways. She visits malls and shopping centers and attempts to get shoppers to sing with her on camera. You can check out her video on YouTube that asks, Will Someone Please Sing Jingle Bells With Me? In the end Alisa is an ordinary, but extremely talented girl who wants to get people back to the way society once was. It’s time to start celebrating Christmas by singing, wherever you are!

Twas The Day Before The Day Before Christmas

And internet idiots started to really get on my nerves. One tends to get tired of hearing the same old same old excuses spouted day in and day out, 20 times a day usually. Despite that, today was probably one of the best days I have ever had in my life. You’d love to know why, but that’s an entirely different post that needs to have photos included and I’m too darn tired.

I made fudge for the second time in my life today. I’m now convinced and so is everyone who tastes it, that I should start my own bakery/candy shop. I just rock like that. I guess that’s the reward of being a fat girl as so many love to call me all the time. At least I have a marketable skill.

And in keeping with grand tradition I shopped today. It started to snow like crazy while I was in the store. It also was colder than anything I could come up with a cute little analogy for. I froze my rear end off in preparation for tomorrow. Speaking of which, we’ll leave at 4:30 t0 start our family get together so I’ll be here all day baking, cleaning, decorating cookies, and WORKING ON MY SITE!

YAY! Speaking of the site. I’m going to be blocking ip’s like crazy. Simply, if I don’t like you kiss my ass and use a proxy. If you are a pain in my butt then I can be a pain in yours as well. I’m also pretty sick of having crazy middle aged men visiting my site 40 plus times a day.

Completely Exhausted

I have cleaned, shopped, baked a cake, wrapped presents, and went out to eat until I’ve exhausted myself completely. Tonight we had our Christmas thing with Kevin’s family. There are not many of us so we went out to eat and then came to our house to do presents. Sydney was pretty excited. I started to get really, really tired towards the end. I felt bad yawning all the time, but hey I’m tired.

Not I’m so tired my eyes hurt. I can’t keep them open, but I have things to do on the net so duty calls. Well, at least for about 5 more minutes. Tomorrow it will be a whole lot more of the same. I’ll be baking goodies, Kevin will need to finish up shopping for me. Of course Monday is Christmas Eve and we’ll head to my aunt’s house. Tuesday it’s my grandma’s then my mom’s house. All followed of course by the big Christmas Morning here.

I’d work on the new site, but I can’t find a graphic I want to use. For about 10 minutes I combed the graphics at istock, but I was so preoccupied I couldn’t find anything. If anyone sees anything just super cool, cute, and lovely, show it to me. I’m just too damn tired to even try.
