The Southern Baptist Academy

When I was growing up home schooled kids just were not heard of. By the time I got to high school I knew of two girls who were schooled at home. The first was pregnant at 13 and married as well, she had to drop out to take care of her baby. She was trying really hard to get an actual high school diploma through home schooling. The second was a girl who was really lazy and wanted nothing to do with society. She started to skip school and get in trouble just to be able to avoid it completely. I felt sorry for both of these girls thinking that they were pitiful and didn’t know anything because their parents were teaching them.

Wow was I wrong. At least about children that are home schooled today in America. While the two cases above might have been special circumstances a lot of parents are choosing to teach their kids at home through programs offered by places like The Southern Baptist Academy Homeschool. I became familiar with this through my adoption connections. Often when the children are adopted at an older age the school system just can’t, or won’t keep up with them. There is no extra attention available to go around.

Rather than let that happen to an adopted child or child who doesn’t speak English as a first language parents are doing it themselves. Homeschooling is on the rise in America and it makes perfect sense. If you child needs a little extra help you know he or she is going to get that help from the person who cares about them the most, at home. With the right tools children really don’t miss out on anything contrary to popular belief.

The Southern Baptist Academy Homeschool Program provides continued support for the parents and children throughout the entire homeschool process. They use the most current technology to help the students and parents learn and teach at their own paces. The Southern Baptist Academy is able to do all this with the help of teachers they consult with, keeping in constant touch with families to get valuable feedback, and improving on all aspects that are recommended by both students, teachers, and parents.

The learning experience is facilitated with CD-ROMS, videos, audio files, web pages, and traditional print materials just to name a few. The Southern Baptist Academy will provide all materials for the parents and students during the home schooling process. Parents if you think that your child will miss out on interactive activities with other children that isn’t true. Many home schooling families have bonded together to form groups for field trips and intramural activities.
